The cooking school is located inside the old city wall of Chiang Mai. Beside learning how to cook vegan/vegetarian Thai and Akha food, you will also get insights into both cultures and their differences. The traditional kitchen is set outdoors.
The “Akha” people immigrated and became citizens of Thailand in the early 1900’s through China, Laos and Myanmar.
There are now 80,000 Akha people living in small villages in the mountains of Thailand. Akha people have their own traditions, culture and beliefs, different from the rest of Thailand, as many hill tribes do.
Akha Food is totally different from Thai Food and is much healthier and fresher. All of their dishes are mainly plant based, and can be tailored to your dietary needs easily. Where other schools only offer 6 dishes, with us you will learn how to prepare 11.
They have both a morning and evening class.
